Get Rid of Your Baggage - Week #3 Topic

Nov 16, 2020

Time:

Even though I have been diving deep into the topic of daily routines and the habits of successful people, I have to share what I heard. . it is so worth it!

Side note: wisdoms are all around you. You just have to be on the look out for them. .
.
At church on a Sunday, I heard an analogy that made me want to jump up and scream YES! AMEN! (Not my typical quiet seat in the back row) I will do my best to repeat the message because it resonated with me on sooo many levels. .

Living so close to the Appalachian Trail, I have hiked several parts of it. I have hiked up to Springer Mountain, up Blood mountain and Neels Gap to Tesnatee Gap. I haven't done much more than 5-7 miles but certainly had conversations about what a thru hike requires, what kind of adventure it would be and how many challenges a hiker would face. Maine is far. .

I live 8 miles from Neels Gap. A very popular stop on a Thru hikers journey and the location of Mountain Crossing store. Hikers stop here and open up their packs to complete strangers for examination. They get feedback on what they should take and what they won't need. It's called the backpack shakedown. Hikers get to learn what they will really need, how to jam it all in their pack and complete the journey. .

Many don't even get that far. A tree adorning the shoes of hikers who have given up the challenge can be seen at the store. .

I love the parallel with my current journey. ..

We all need to undergo a "pack shakedown" ,in life, to get rid of the "baggage" we don't need, the people who don't support us or the habits that don't serve our purpose.
And sometimes, we need a stranger to point them out. .

Don't hang your boots in the tree. The journey is worth being vulnerable.

Thank you Pastor Don for this gift of insight and a message that warrants a jump up and scream, AMEN!

Push. Live. Love.,
