1 line Mission - Golden Nugget

May 02, 2020

Have you come across a Golden nugget of information that has made a huge difference ?

a piece of information or a formula that when you find out about it … the whole picture changes?

It’s like doing an 1000 piece puzzle of a lion and missing the piece that completes the nose…. And then you find it!

That’s what the “value articulation formula” was for me.

I stumbled across it during a podcast by Amy Porterfield (online marketing expert) and her partnership with good friend, Mel Abraham. I had never heard of him… but he is accomplished and I was intrigued.

For those of you who come from the era of Mad Libs… this will ring home…. Mr. Abraham has a structured formula where all you have to do is plug in your WHO, the WHAT, the WHY and the HOW and you have created your single line statement of intention… or mission or whatever you want to call it… your way of expressing what you DO in a powerful way. Wow. Really? Yes friends… really.

Why is that important, you ask... Because without a clear way of telling people what you do, how are they supposed to have the confidence in your ability to deliver? And sometimes... getting a clear and articulated focus on what you say to people, gives YOU a better picture of where you are going.

So here goes:

The formula goes like this….

I help (x) ______________ do (y) _______________ so that (z) _____________________ unlike (a) __________________ because of (b) ________________ .

For my math geek friends, this will be heavenly… others will have to grin and bare it….

X = who do you help

Y = what do you help with

Z = what result do you help get

A = customer alternatives

B = Your distinction

Sounds easy right? Well, there is a lot more to it… you now have to take those pieces and plug in your version….

Here’s my example:

I help women entrepreneurs build profitable 6-7 figure businesses in harmony with their values and family; Unlike revenue-focuses business coaches because I have insider perspective.

How does that sound?

It took me about 15 drafts and a whole lot of insight over the last year… but there it is; My mission. My ‘WHY’. My reason for doing what I do.

What I recommend is that you look up Mel Abraham and find his “value articulation formula”. Sign up to get the download and listen to his 20 minute explanation of the formula. It will be the BEST 20 minutes you spend… at least this week.  www.melabraham.com/valueart/
